OASIS Team

Mark Morris
Principal Architect
Mark C. Morris is the principal architect of Oasis Architecture & Design, Inc., which he founded in 2003. He has over 26 years of experience and graduated from the University of Tennessee as Magna Cum Laude at the College of Architecture and Planning. He began his career designing commercial structures in Washington D.C. and Rosslyn, Virginia; but it wasn’t until he began working with Kenneth Lynch & Associates, a reputable firm in Atlanta, Georgia, that he found his niche and passion for Custom Home Design. After settling in San Diego and working Turpit & Potter Architects for several years, Morris went on to open his own firm, determined to create a personal interaction with his clientele and the community. Growing up; Morris had influences from both an engineer and an artist in his family and it propelled him toward the creative craftsmanship he emphasizes in every home design. He often finds himself influenced by well known architects like Frank Lloyd Wright, John Lautner and Richard Neutra. Morris believes it is essential to work with the client, not only to design the most innovative and beautiful home, but also to bring out the character of the individual or family. He focuses on functionality of the space and the most efficient environmental contribution he can make to the home. Mark C. Morris is a Registered Architect in the State of California and certified with the National Council of Architectural Registration Board.

Eric Buchanan
Project Manager
Eric Buchanan is the project manager for Oasis Architecture & Design, Inc. He has a degree in Architecture & Construction Management from Santa Rosa Junior College and has nearly two decades of experience. Born and raised in San Diego, Eric began his career designing commercial properties. With a background in construction and emphasis in technical drafting, he was the perfect candidate to join Mark Morris at Oasis after the two worked together at Turpit & Potter Architects. Eric believes that residential design is more personal and requires a more creative process. Buchanan’s father built the house he grew up in, so it was not by accident he took interest in the design and the practical application of the craftsmanship that goes into some-one’s home. He takes in the fact that he is able to remember the little things that clients bring up when they share their ideas for designing a house. Buchanan is able to successfully review Morris’ initial design and offer perspective and practical functionality to the home. For him, the process is a team effort – which includes the desires and needs of the clientele. Buchanan enjoys going out to field as the design progresses and connecting the dots between what’s on paper and the product being constructed. He reviews the site by evaluating the overall feel of the house and tries to imagine how the family or individual will live in it. His technical skills transmit into personal and relational connections. Eric Buchanan works closely with government agencies to obtain permits, interpret building codes and is essential in administrating the client’s needs through the design process.
